Secure Shell, commonly known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol that is used to execute commands on a remote hosting server or to exchange data between a server and a client. Because the info exchanged by the 2 sides is protected, a 3rd party can't intercept it, which makes SSH a preferred means of controlling a website hosting account. The commands which can be executed depend on the type of hosting service. On a shared hosting server, for instance, the choices are limited because you won't have root access to the hosting server, so you may only create/move/delete files, create and unpack archives, import and export databases, etcetera. These are all actions that are performed within the shared hosting account and don't need a higher level of access. Through a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall be able to set up server-side software or to restart the machine or just a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted with a command line, but if you do not use a UNIX-like Operating System, there are plenty of applications for other OSs, which you can use to connect to the remote server as well.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting

SSH access is available with all cloud plans which we offer you. With some of them, it is included as standard, while with others it is an additional upgrade that you can include with a few mouse clicks from your website hosting Control Panel. You could get SSH access from the section related to it where you will also find the information that you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You can pick the password that you shall use and, if necessary, you'll be able to modify it with several mouse clicks from the same spot. All commands which can be used with our shared packages are listed within a help article along with relevant examples. If the SSH access function is permitted for your account, you shall also be able to upload files through your favorite FTP client via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers

You shall be able to connect to your semi-dedicated server account through SSH irrespective of which plan you select when you sign up. With some packages, the function is provided by default, while with others, it can be added as an optional upgrade for as long as you need it. You can find the required login details inside the Hepsia CP, included with all accounts - the host/server name, the port number and the login name. You will be able to pick the password you'll use and if you'd like, you can change it constantly with several mouse clicks for even better security. You shall be able to see all the commands you can use in advance, because we've listed them all together with examples of how they are used in order to execute a certain task. As soon as SSH access to your semi-dedicated server account is allowed, you will be able to use an FTP program and establish an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers

You will be able to use SSH to control your content no matter which VPS web hosting plans you pick when you sign up, since all our packages offer this feature as standard. You won't need to include or activate anything manually - the minute your server is ready and you get the Welcome e mail with the login info, you could connect and start working on your web sites or any software you want to set up and run on the hosting server. You will have root-level access to the VPS and due to the fact that the account will be isolated from all of the other accounts inside the physical web server, you shall be able to do anything you need with no restrictions. You could install any app which you need and that shall run on a Linux-based server, restart any software server (web, database, game, media, etc.) and manage your files and databases quickly and easily.
