Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, that is used to stop the so-called e-mail spoofing where an email message can be sent from one email, but to seem as being sent from a different, ordinarily with the idea to fraud the recipient someway. When SPF protection is activated for a domain name, a specific record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers globally receive it. The record includes all of the mail servers that are allowed to send legitimate messages from an e-mail address under the domain. When an email is sent, the very first DNS server it encounters verifies the SPF record and in case its sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the targeted destination. When, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the specified domain, the e-mail message won't be submitted and it will be removed. Whenever you use this service, it'll stop third parties from sending spam messages which appear to have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Website Hosting

If you host your domain names in a cloud website hosting account with us and we handle the email addresses for them, you will be able to enable SPF protection for any of them with several clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This service is available in a separate section where you can view which domains are already protected. For the ones that are not, you'll be able to enable the SPF protection solution and set up various things during this process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your e-mails, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and to create a rule that email messages can be sent only when your domains include our MX records. The aforementioned choice is the most secure one, and it can be used if we handle the email addresses for your domain names and you are not using a different e-mail service provider. The new records will be activated within a day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an email with your addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection function is featured with all the semi-dedicated plans, so in case you host your domain names in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you can use this particular service without difficulty for any of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts, offers a rather user-friendly interface, so you do not need to be proficient in the use of computers in order to secure your email addresses. You'll simply have to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you'd like to be allowed to send out emails from your addresses and shortly after that the updated record will be active for the domain that you have selected. As an extra option, we will also allow you to limit the outgoing e-mail messages and secure your mailboxes further by permitting email messages to be sent only when the domain name in question has our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain need to be managed here and not by some other provider. By doing this you'll enjoy even better control and there will not be any chance for anyone to fake your e-mail addresses for malicious intentions.
